Banksia integrifolia is a versatile, medium to tall tree native to coastal and near-coastal regions of eastern and southeastern Australia. Typically reaching heights of 5–15 metres, it features leathery, narrow leaves with silvery undersides and distinctive pale yellow flower spikes that appear mainly in autumn and winter but can occur year-round in favourable conditions.
This species is highly valued for its ecological role, providing a reliable nectar source for honeyeaters, bees, and other pollinators when few other plants are flowering. Its seeds also attract native birds such as cockatoos. The rough, patterned bark offers additional habitat for insects and shelter for small fauna.
B. integrifolia is well-suited to a range of restoration and landscaping applications. It tolerates salt-laden winds, sandy soils, and exposed sites, making it ideal for coastal revegetation, dune stabilisation, and habitat plantings. Inland forms also exist and are used in slightly more elevated or protected areas.
As a long-lived species with both aesthetic and ecological value, Banksia integrifolia is a resilient addition to biodiversity-focused projects
